Hello everyone!
Before I learn about all of you, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Amanda Cabral (formerly Amanda Rathan or Ms. Rathan). I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in 2014 with a B.A in Elementary/Urban Education. During my undergraduate years, I was able to work with children located in other Chicago Public Schools on the north, west, and south side of Chicago. I completed my student teaching at Ravenswood Elementary School in a third grade classroom. After graduating from UIC, I was able to continue working with students at Audubon Elementary School as an Intervention Specialist for students in kindergarten and first grade.
At the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year, I started my journey at Coonley Elementary School. I worked with students in Kindergarten through 8th grade as a Reading Teacher Assistant. During this time, I was able to develop relationships with the students and staff of Coonley, which has helped me grow as an educator.
This will be my 9th year at Coonley. I am excited to begin teaching and I am looking forward to getting to know my students and parents. I am looking forward to helping my students grow and watching their development throughout their 1st grade experiences. I am eager to learn from all of you. I will do everything it takes to ensure that your children have a rewarding year as 1st grade students! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have.
